Legal Disclaimer & Terms of Use

1. Authorized Use Only

UnlockExcel ("the Tool") is provided strictly for recovering access to files that you own or have explicit, legal authorization to modify. You may not use this Tool to bypass security measures on files belonging to third parties, employers, clients, or any other entity without their prior written consent.

2. No Data Storage or Retention

The Tool operates entirely statelessly. When you upload a file, it is processed temporarily in memory to strip the protection mechanisms.

  • No files are saved to any disk or persistent storage.
  • No file contents are read, logged, or analyzed beyond what is strictly necessary to remove the encryption or protection wrappers.
  • As soon as the file is processed and downloaded, it is immediately discarded from memory.

3. Potential Data Loss (Legacy Formats)

If you upload legacy Excel formats (e.g., .xls Excel 97-2003), the Tool must convert the binary file into the modern OpenXML format (.xlsx) to remove the protection.

During this conversion process, VBA macros and complex visual formatting will be permanently lost. The Tool is provided "as is" and the developers bear no responsibility for any loss of data, macros, or formatting resulting from the use of this service.

4. No Liability

By using this Tool, you agree that the developers, maintainers, and hosts of UnlockExcel are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (including but not limited to loss of data, legal repercussions, or loss of employment) arising from your use of or inability to use the Tool.

5. Compliance with Laws

You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of the Tool complies with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws, including but not limited to data privacy regulations (such as GDPR or CCPA) and intellectual property laws.
